Playback Controls

Select a GIF or video to play, pause, scrub, step frames, change speed, loop, or export the current frame from the control bar.

These controls work for both GIFs and videos:

ActionShortcutDescription
Play / PauseSpaceToggle playback
LoopLRepeat from the beginning when playback ends
StepLeft / RightMove one frame back / forward
Jump⇧Left / ⇧RightSkip several frames back / forward
Playback SpeedCycle through speed options (shown in control bar)
Export FrameSave the current frame as a still image on the board

Arrow keys step both GIFs and videos a single frame at a time — ideal for studying motion. Stepping a playing item pauses it first.

  • Tap Left or Right for exactly one frame.
  • Hold Left or Right to scrub: it starts slow for frame-accurate control, then smoothly accelerates to a fast scrub, and settles the moment you release.
  • ⇧Left / ⇧Right jumps a larger fixed amount: about half a second of video, or ten GIF frames. Each press moves the same distance, so you can count presses to land a known offset.

Hold-to-scrub needs a hardware keyboard.

GIF speed options: 0.25x, 0.5x, 1x, 2x.

GIF selected on the board with the filmstrip open and playback controls visible below the item.

Tap the filmstrip button to show all frames as scrollable thumbnails below the GIF. Tap any thumbnail to jump to that frame.

Long-press and drag a thumbnail to extract that frame as a new image on the board.

When multiple GIFs are selected, controls apply to all of them at once. If any GIF is playing, the pause button stops all of them.
